Mr Albert Tay
The MGS choir is led by conductor, Mr Albert Tay. Mr Tay has spent the past decade reaching out to the masses and cultivating sound values, fine character and intelligent musicians through disciplined choral performance and Kodály-inspired music education.The MGS Choir has had the privilege of being under his tutelage since 2005, and has achieved nothing short of excellence under his care.
He is an award-winning composer with works such as Ecce Crucem Domini and Laudate Dominum and is the founder of Kodaly Academy of Music, Educator at NAFA and SIM.He currently is the Associate Faculty at SIM University where he teaches “Ensemble Study and Performance” as well as “Conducting”. He also taught choral conducting at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and is a part-time lecturer of NAFA.
Additionally, he is an internationally renowned educator, and regularly gives keynote lectures and musical workshops to professional conductors, music educators and choirs all around the world.

Ms Ellissa Sayampanathan
Our assistant conductor, Miss Ellissa Sayampanathan, is an alumnus and former president of the Methodist Girls’ School Choir.
Ms Ellissa seeks to combine her love for music with her desire to shape young voices. She is currently an undergraduate reading English Literature at the National University of Singapore and is strongly influenced by the marriage between the written word and its performance through music.
Whilst in MGS, Ms Ellissa served as the choir’s President and also assisted in the choir‟s independent music learning. She was awarded the Wong Hee Hua Medal for her contributions to the choir. Graduating from the Music Elective Programme at Anglo -Chinese Junior College, she was awarded the Ministry of Education Music Elective Scholarship for two consecutive years. She has obtained a Licentiate Diploma in Voice Performance, and an Associate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Trinity College of London, and continues to hone her skills in music masterclasses.
Ms Ellissa currently sings with the Anglo-Chinese Junior College Alumni Choir and also conducts The Pathlight Youth Choir and the Grace Orchard School Choir, and is happy to be back with the MGS Choir since January 2016.
